Porto Recanati

Situated at the mouth of the Potenza River, Porto Recanati has in recent years, witnessed an impressive growth in the tourist industry largely thanks to its extensive and well equipped beach. Not surprisingly, Porto Recanati is one of the best known holiday destinations of the Marche region. The town's age old fishing industry, with its impressive fleet of boats is still of great importance.

But Porto Recanati is not just about the sea, in fact the town offers a host of sites of cultural and historical importance including the ancient Castle housing the town's Attilio Moroni, Art Museum which includes an impressive collection with works by Canova, Fiorentino, Spagnoletto and Rosa.

Events held in the town include the Festival of the Sea and the Silent Film Festival. Gourmands will be delighted by the local cuisine and maritime specialties such as the Brodetto di Porto Recanati, a traditional fisherman's dish, originally created to use up any unsold fish.
