Tortellini, oven-baked lasagne, tagliatelle – all these fabulous pasta dishes have become synonymous with Italian cuisine although they all originate from one area of the country – that of Emilia Romagna. Other delicacies of the region are the cold meats; the Parma ham, culatello of Zibello, coppe of Piacenza, zampone, salame al sugo and busseto. The best known product has to be the parmigiano reggiano the parmesan cheese which has found its way onto dining tables world wide.

The most famous wines of the region are Lambrusco, Sangiovese, and Trebbiano.
