The Grand Hotel Rimini, designed by the South American architect Paolo Somazzi, first opened its doors to an elite international clientele in 1908.
A national monument
The building, now a national monument, originally had two decorative domes, which were destroyed by fire in 1920. Severely damaged during the war, the hotel was rebuilt in the 1950s.
Grand Hotel Rimini gained worldwide fame in the 1970's when Federico Fellini used the establishment as the setting for some of the most memorable scenes in his Amarcord (1973).
Public and private pleasures
Today, the sumptuous public rooms still contain the 18th century Venetian and French antiques, the parquet flooring and Venetian chandeliers used to adorn the lobby and salons at the start of the 20th century.
