Puglia Bovino

Bovino

Bovino is part of the Mountain Community "Monti Dauni Meridionali" and member of the Club Italy's Most Beautiful Villages. From the heights of the Dauno Appenines, looking out over the Tavoliere delle Puglie and the valley of the Cervaro river, Bovino provides the tourist with the ideal place in which to relax in total tranquility.

The highlights of "the borgo" are in its historic center, where there are a number of monuments such as the imposing Ducale Castle. Then there is Bovino Cathedral, the Roman Aqueduct, the Church of St Pietro and the Civic Museum "Carlo Gaetano Nicastro". A special mention should be made of the tower known as the "cavaliere", situated within the castle grounds.

Numerous events linked to traditions of the past are held in the borgo, such as the Bonfire for the festival St Giuseppe, the pilgrimage to the sanctuary of Valleverde, the Procession and Fair of St Antonio, the Sagra della Bruschetta, the Procession of Madonna del Carmine, the Festa della Madonna di valleverde, the Fair and Procession of St Celestino Martire and the Procession of St Rita.
