On the high plains of the Murge, on the border of the province of Taranto, one finds Cisternino, an enchanting medieval village much admired by Angelo Semeraro. Cisternino is surrounded by fertile fields of Olive groves and vineyards, some of the most abundant in Puglia
Its historic center is characterized by its architecture of the 16th and 17th centuries. Visitors will undoubtedly be struck by the predominance of white buildings. To visit: the tower of Palazzo Amati, the Church and Crypt of St Nicola of Bari, the Church of St Cataldo, the Church of St Quirico and the Sanctuary of St Maria of Ibernia.
Events held in the town include the Fair of St Quirico, the festivities in honor of the Patron saints St Quirico and St Giulittà, the Fair of the Bomminella, the Fair of the Madonna of Ibernia, the Festival of the Sacro Cuore in the Casalini District, the Festa of Maria Immacolata in the Caranna District. The beauty of the valley, the tranquility of the village and its century old architecture are guaranteed to impress the visitor.
