Londra Palace Venezia

As Tchaikowsky looked across the lagoon to the island of San Giorgio, he was inspired to write his fourth symphony. His room, 106, has become a shrine at Hotel Londra Palace. The palace recently reopened following extensive renovations. The result is a triumph of Italian neo-classical design, a world of consummate luxury where Aubusson carpets contrast with the brilliant mosaic floor and glass pays homage to the unique Venetian light. There are 53 air conditioned rooms, 20 are junior suites, make a unique fashion statement. Silken walls and diaphanous curtains frame the famous view. The furniture is antique, the paintings old and new are original, with pink marble bathrooms. The wine gallery offers tasting of famous wines prior to a feast, perhaps, in Do Leoni whose famous Italian and Venetian cuisine draws on Chianina beef and personally selected fresh produce from the Rialto market every day.
