La Pia Dama Sinalunga

An imposing fortified edifice dominates the countryside just outside the Tuscan town of Sinalunga: that of the period residence La Pia Dama. This ancient medieval property situated half way between Siena and Arezzo, in the heart of the Valdichiana, has been named after the legendary Dame Pia of Tolomei, to whom Dante Alighieri, in his Divine Comedy, dedicated the last seven lines of the Canto V of Purgatory.

Guest accommodation is available in seven sumptuous suites located within the castle, the baroque inspired interiors of which feature exquisite items of antique furniture, original period paintings, immense gilt framed mirrors, precious textiles and magnificent chandeliers.

The exteriors of the castle La Pia Dama offer a succession of striking architectural compositions, formed by numerous arches, galleries and passageways. Inside the walls of La Pia Dama, ancient halls have been furnished so as to provide beautiful sitting areas. Guests sojourning at La Pia Dama should be sure not to miss the opportunity to visit the cellar created in what were once the castle's stables.

The peaceful gardens of the residence provide the setting for La Pia Dama's large outdoor swimming pool, ideal place where to relax and bathe in the Tuscan sun.

The castle provides the perfect venue for wedding receptions, conferences, meetings and banquets: events which can be held in the elegant function room and, in the summer months, in the area around the pool.
