A magical country monastery overlooking the sea

Three reasons why you'll love it here

  1. An ancient monastery in the coastal countryside of the Sorrento Peninsula
  2. Cooking lessons featuring local dishes and fresh bread
  3. Discover rural traditions in the garden and farm

Monastery, noble residence, manor house, coastal farming estate, and today a historic accommodation with a working farm: Masseria Astapiana Villa Giusso has been many things in its long history, and now this beautifully restored 17th century monastery in the peaceful countryside of Italy's Sorrentine Peninsula just minutes away from the Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast welcomes visitors from across the world.

Modern-day monk?

The interiors of Masseria Astapiana, have been carefully adapted to meet the requirements of the modern-day traveler while conserving the simple, linear original monastic architecture to perfection.
Most guest rooms are furnished with family antiques and magnificent wrought iron beds and are located in the original monks' cells.

The generously sized Family Suite Murat is perfect for those holidaying with small children. The two bedroom Annunziata Flat, an annex with a fully equipped kitchenette and comfortable living area, is ideal for all those looking for a self-catering holiday separate from the main building.

Feasts in the kitchen

The Masseria's 17th century majolica tiled kitchen, with original wood burning oven, provides a charming breakfast room, in which guests are treated to a delicious selection of sweet and savory delicacies from the Sorrentine Peninsula.
Upon request, the kitchen can be used to host traditional evening meals, with local Neapolitan dishes prepared using the sun-ripened Mediterranean fruit and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden.

Fruits of the earth

A large part of Villa Giusso's farm is used for the cultivation of olives, from which extra virgin olive oil "DOP Penisola Sorrentina"' is made.
Guests can participate in entertaining cooking courses and lessons held at the estate's farm on making bread, cheese, and, during the month of October, harvesting olives

Country Weddings and Events

Masseria Astapiana Villa Giusso is open to visitors for wine tastings and samplings of the estate's farm products, in addition to demonstrations on traditional Neapolitan pizza making. The rooms and grounds are a unique location for a romantic wedding and reception, cultural events, or small concerts.
Seminars, business meetings and conferences for up to 50 people can be held in the former refectory or the meeting hall.
