Dating back to the 17th century, Borgo della Marmotta is a tiny hamlet, in the countryside of Poreta, just outside the city of Spoleto.

Remarkably unscathed by the passage of time, today the Borgo's cottages, stables, granary, and oil press have been painstakingly restored and converted into one of Umbria's most elegant country resorts.

Traditional country romance

With their old fireplaces, exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, four poster beds and rare items of antique furniture, each and every one of Borgo della Marmotta's bedrooms and apartments offers a pleasing combination of old world charm and the latest in modern technology.

Dining venues

Breakfast is served either in Borgo della Marmotta's large dining room or, in warm weather, beneath the pergola which extends into the garden.
The characteristic stone-walled dining room provides a charming venue for light lunches and tastings of local wines and gastronomic specialties.

Adopt an olive tree

On Borgo della Maromotta's agricultural estate the area's ancient farming traditions are still passionately observed. The Terre di Poreta project employs organic farming methods to produce cereals, wines and an excellent extra virgin olive oil.

The farm's innovative Adopt an Olive Tree campaign proposes the adoption at a distance of one or more olive trees, from which the adoptive parent will be able to extract the oil.
