Pieve a Pava San Giovanni d'Asso

Pieve a Pava is an exclusive guesthouse located in a small complex which was originally composed of a rural church, a priest's house and a farmhouse, just outside the town of San Giovanni d'Asso, in the heart of the Crete Senesi. The origins of Pieve a Pava date back to the middle ages when the tiny house of worship was contended by the cities of Siena, Florence and Arezzo, during their battles for the dominion of the Val d'Orcia and Val d'Asso. Today the ancient buildings have been converted into a fascinating country residence, in which to experience the very best of Tuscan food and hospitality.

The perfect Tuscan retreat, Pieve a Pava has just five individually appointed bedrooms, located either in the priest's house or the adjoining farmhouse. All rooms feature a pleasing combination of traditional rustic furnishings and contemporary, hotel standard, amenities.

Pieva a Pava's living area is the heart of the guesthouse, designed to provide a welcoming space where holidaymakers are free to pass the time of day reading a good book, chatting among friends or savoring a glass of fine cognac. During the long summer season, the internal courtyard and the garden terraces provide ideal locations in which to enjoy an aperitif or a glass of Tuscan wine.

Whilst staying at Pieve a Pava, guests have every opportunity to experience the peace and quiet of the Tuscan countryside, exploring the olive and vine covered hills of the Crete Senesi, or simply relaxing by the swimming pool.

The days commence with a generous buffet breakfast, which includes delicious homemade breads and jams. Although the guest house does not have a restaurant, three days a week, in Pieve a Pava's professional kitchen, a selection of delicious Tuscan specialties are prepared; typical dishes to be enjoyed in the company of the other guests, sitting around the large communal dining table. On request, special dinners, wedding receptions and even cooking courses held by Michelin star chefs are organized. In November, guests have the opportunity to participate in the olive harvest and take some of the resulting olive oil home with them as an edible souvenir. The guest house has facilities for small scale meetings and seminars (max 10 people).
