An impressive Art Nouveau style villa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees dates back to 1861, year in which its first opened its doors to an elite clientele of aristocrats, statesmen, and intellectuals arriving in the tiny lakeside town of Stresa from all four corners of the globe.

When time stands still

Period artworks, priceless marbles, magnificent chandeliers: the hotel's sumptuous public rooms overlooking the lake are just as beautiful as they were 150 years ago.

Outside, in the park, guests wander beneath the ancient trees, to reach the Italian garden, complete with neoclassical statues, and the Japanese garden, from where a spectacular view of Lake Maggiore, and the islets of Isola Bella and Isola Madre can be seen.
