Castello di Magrano
(Historical Residences) Gubbio
Fancy a holiday in the Duke of Montefeltro's hunting lodge?
Three reasons why you'll love it here
- A holiday in Federico da Montefeltro's hunting lodge
- A splash in Castello di Magrano's gorgeous pool
- Hunting for Umbria's delicious mushrooms and truffles
If the thick stone walls of Castello di Magrano could talk, they would tell a fascinating tale of the dukes, duchesses and noble dynasties who graced the castle with their presence in centuries past.
Living in luxury
Castello di Magrano provides guest accommodation in 10 tastefully furnished bedrooms and 2 suites situated in the main building and in the adjoining "foresteria", and in a two bedroom apartment, located in the loft.
Back in the distant 1431, the Duke of Montefeltro turned the castle in the countryside just outside the medieval city of Gubbio into his sumptuous hunting lodge
A taste of the country
A delicious selection of typical Umbrian delicacies is served in the breakfast room each morning. Half board accommodation is available, on request, for groups of 14 people or more.
In warm weather, guests might easily be found relaxing in Castello di Magrano's peaceful gardens, strolling across the soft velvety lawns or swimming in the period residence's attractive outdoor pool.
Castello di Magrano sits in the heart of a large country estate, traversed by any number of scenic foot and cycle paths, and where, according to the season, you may be lucky enough to come across a crop of wild mushrooms or Umbria's highly prized truffles.
Whatever the time of year, outdoor types will want to make the trip to the nearby Monte Cucco Discovery Park, where to ski, climb and even free-fly to their hearts' content.
