Polenta, rice, and saltcod are the staple dishes of the Venetian gastronomic tradition. But the Venetians are also extremely fond of specialities using mussels, crabs, sole, gilthead and many other varieties of fish and seafood. Whilst the liver dish “fegatini alla Veneziana” has become famous worldwide, few people know of the lagoon dwellers passion for game birds such as duck, goose, and pidgeon.
In the bars one can still find the characteristic appetizers being served to accompany aperitivi.

Veneto is one of Italy’s most prolific wine producing regions and wines such as Soave, Valpolicella, and Bardolino are known throughout the world.
