The Romans, with their unfailing eye for beauty, were among the first to appreciate the spectacular scenery and temperate climate of Surrentum, perched on the cliffs of the Sorrento Peninsula in an area that also lies along the famous coast road known as the "Amalfitana". The long history of the Excelsior Vittoria is reflected in the unique fin-de-siècle style of the building, which still retains its period of splendour. The interiors are tastefully decorated and contain original antique furniture including beautiful pieces, crafted locally, with inlaid decoration. The Excelsior Vittoria is a historic Grand Hotel comprising three different blocks built between 1834 and 1880. Precisely because of its unique layout, the Hotel is able to offer a generous selection of rooms with a variety of features.

The Hotel and its terraces, famous for their breathtaking views over the Bay of Naples, have played host to many celebrities and discerning travellers including Kings and Queens, Artists (Richard Wagner, Enrico Caruso, Jack Lemmon, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren) and other notable personalities attracted to Sorrento and the surrounding area.

Five acres of private garden with citrus and olive trees also contribute to make the Excelsior Vittoria a unique hotel. There is a a large swimming pool in the grounds, with an orange grove nearby, where guests can bathe and relax in the Mediterranean sun. From the main terrace, a private lift descends directly to the pier in the harbour below, where sight-seers can easily hire a motor boat for an excursion along the beautiful coastline of the peninsula, or take a trip to Capri, Naples and Ischia on one of the many jet boat and hydrofoil services, which operate daily. With its unique charm and history, and excellent meeting facilities (capacity up to 250) the Excelsior Vittoria offers a perfect venue for guests looking to combine work and leisure.

Almost all rooms have a terrace or a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples or the beautiful hotel grounds. All rooms have private bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, safe and direct-dial telephone. The historic suites are tastefully furnished with original period furniture and have a terrace looking out over the Bay, affording splendid views and spectacular sunsets.

The "Enrico Caruso" suite, very much in demand, retains the same décor and furnishings as when the famous Italian tenor stayed there for more several months, in 1921. The "Pompeii" Suite is decorated with frescoes inspired by the most handsome villas in nearby Pompeii. Among the spacious accommodations are also the "Suites degli Aranci", overlooking the orange grove, and the romantic "Vittoria Suite", with terrace on two sides.

General Terms and Conditions for Individual Guests 2007

Bookings confirmation.
The reservation must be confirmed by letter, fax or e-mail by Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria within the next 48 hours from your request. All reservations must be guaranteed with an advance deposit of one-night. Advance deposit can be settled with cheque or will be charged to the credit car. For reservations of Junior Suites and Suites for 3 nights or more, a 50% advance deposit of entire stay booked will be requested and charged to the credit card..

Cancellation Policy.
All reservations no cancelled within the following terms are subject to cancellation fees:
For high season from May 1, 2007 to October 31, 2007 and from December 22, 2007 to January 6, 2008.
- In case of cancellation until 21 days prior arrival date, no charges will apply and advance deposit will be refunded.
- In case of cancellation from 20 to 10 days prior arrival date, 1 night advance deposit will not be refunded and a fee up to the 50% of entire stay booked including the advance deposit will be charged on credit card
- In case of cancellation from 9 days prior arrival date and until arrival day and/or in case of no-show, 1 night advance deposit will not be refunded and a fee up to the 80% of entire stay booked including the advance deposit will be charged on credit card

For low and medium season from January 8, 2007 to April 30, 2007 and from November 1, 2007 to December 21, 2007
- In case of cancellation until 7 days prior arrival date, no charges will apply and advance deposit will be refunded.
- In case of cancellation from 6 days prior arrival date and until arrival day and/or in case of no-show, 1 night fee. Advance deposit will not be refunded

Reduction of length of stay.
For any shortening in length of stay one night charge will automatically incur. For Junior Suites or Suites you may be liable to pay the total number of nights reserved.

Check in and check out.
Check in: from 3.00 pm. Check out: at 11.00 am.

Late Check out.
- Up to 4 p.m., only in the low season and subjected to availability.
- From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., 50% of room rate will be charged as late check out.
- After 8 p.m., full rate will apply.

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria Location

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is located in Piazza Tasso, in the center of Sorrento; a magnificently panoramic position which affords breathtaking views out over the Gulf of Naples. The hotel is situated directly above the harbour of Marina Piccola, from where a regular hydrofoil and ferry service provides connections with the Island of Capri and Naples. The archaeological sites of Pompei and Herculaneum are both within easy driving distance of the hotel.
The Amalfi Coast, home to the towns of Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello, is just a few kilometers away and easily reached by car or by bus.
During the summer months, boat connections are available from Sorrento to all of the tourist destinations on the Gulf of Naples. From Sorrento, visitors may choose to travel to Naples via the Circumvesuviana railway, along a line which also stops at Pompei. The nearest airport to the hotel is that of Naples Capodichino Airport. Those travelling by train should descend at Naples Central Railway station from where to take the Circumvesuviana railway line, as far as Sorrento.
