Capri Island Restaurants
Fish is the primary ingredient of the island cuisine, usually served with vegetables dressed with olive oil. Capri’s gastronomic traditions result from the fusion of the islanders creativity and the culinary customs of early Greek and Roman settlers mingling with the later influence of the British and Spanish. Tomatoes are combined with garlic and peperoncino, vegetables added to pasta and served with both fish and meat. The most famous of the island’s dishes have to be the Ravioli Capresi, the Insalata Caprese (mozzarella, basil ,and tomato served with olive oil), and the Torta Caprese (a rich cake made with chocolate and almonds), whilst there can be no better way to end a meal than by sipping a glass of Limoncello di Capri, the exquisite lemon liqueur of worldwide fame.
