Salus Per Aquam, health through water. In the case of the Tombolo Talasso Resort the ancient Romans' conception of SPA is particularly appropriate. Water is, in fact, the dominating element of this exclusive property in Marina di Castagneto Carducci, built in the 1930's as children's seaside holiday colony, and recently transformed in to a world class destination spa.
Between the hotel and the resort's beach lie the "tomboli", the characteristic dunes covered with Mediterranean vegetation, which have inspired the resort's name. At the Tombolo Talasso Resort, sea water is used in thalassotherapy, an age-old spa discipline which exploits the natural resources of the marine environment: its climate, water, seaweed, sea mud and sand, to cure both mind and body.
In addition to the external pool, conceived as sea water lagoon, the resort has an immense artificial grotto containing five thalasso pools, each filled with sea water extracted some 900 meters off the coast and heated to a temperature between 28° and 35°. All pools are equipped with chromo-therapeutic lighting, used to heighten the effects of the thalasso treatments, and favor the natural elimination of toxins.
With soft colored lighting, underwater music system, and high saline content, the Emotional Pool is the perfect place in which to float and experience the benefits of the essential oils released in to the warm water. This is where the resort's Aqua E-Motion is performed, an innovative thalasso-holistic treatment which employs a combination of massage techniques (Watsu, Waterbalancing™, Aquarelaxation, Cranio-sacral, Sound Therapy and Rebirthing) so as to encourage deep psycho-physical relaxation and the gentle release of energetic and/or emotional blocks.
At the Tombolo Talasso Resort, a day dedicated to relaxation and wellbeing might easily draw to a close on the hotel's elegant sea front terrace, built to resemble the deck of a stylish cruise ship, and from where the most magnificent sunsets can be observed.
