Christmas shopping

Christmas shopping

There's festive fun for everyone, in Italy's Christmas markets.

Christmas is a coming, the goose is getting fat and, from the 1st of December, Italians and visitors from throughout Europe will be spending their pennies in the country's traditional Christmas Markets.

Parampampoli in the park

In Levico Terme, in Valsugana, the Historical Hapsburg Park provides the fairytale location for the town's spectacular Christmas Market. Here, every genre of local delicacy is sold in the typical wooden houses between the trees.
Visitors can reach the park via the tourist train or, for those wishing to arrive in true style, by horse-drawn carriage.

As they stroll along the park's snow covered avenues, listening to the songs sung by the mountain choir, visitors can peruse the stalls, purchase local artisan products and enjoy a glass of piping hot Parampampoli, the typical Liquer of Valsugana, made with coffee, grappa, sugar and honey. For little ones, there is an Elves' House and petting zoo.

Stocking fillers

Squeezed between the Dolomites and Lake Garda, Rango is by far one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of Italy.
From early December, the picturesque little streets of the historic center provide the magical setting for Rango's world-famous Christmas Market.
Bagpipers, singers and jugglers keep the shoppers entertained as they make their way through stalls piled high with local delicacies such as Rango's traditional walnut cake, made with the walnuts from Bleggio.

Seasonal eats and treats

Trento's Christmas market, held in the town's beautiful Piazza Erba, is one of the most enchanting in the Alpine area.

The market is crammed with stalls selling "polenta brustolada", "tortel di patate" and other gastronomic Trentino delicacies

Festive greetings and grappa

Close to Trento, in the 'Valle dei Laghi', the small town of Santa Massenza, which is famous for its grappa, organizes an itinerant theatrical performance (La Notte Alambicchi Accesi) during which actors lead the "spectators" through the town, on a journey discovering the secrets of a drink which has become one of the symbols of Trentino.
