All cooked up in Rome

All cooked up in Rome

Lessons for professional and amateur cooks in the Italian capital.

With 20 years experience tucked under its belt, "A tavola con lo chef" is one of central Italy's most highly acclaimed cooking schools. The school, which has two seats in Rome, one close to the Vatican and another on the outskirts of the city, offers a vast choice of courses for both professional and amateur cooks and enjoys the endorsement and patronage of the Italian Federation of Cooks.

"A Tavola con lo Chef"' employs a hands-on approach to cooking lessons, which are all carried out under the constant guide of the school's expert teachers. Professional and amateur courses include lessons on basic cooking techniques, confectionary, pizza making and even courses on how to become the perfect barman. Another of the reasons the school is so popular is the sheer number of top chefs involved. Throughout the year, master-classes are held by famous chefs, all more than willing to illustrate the tricks of the trade and share some of the recipes from their own personal repertoire.

Students with a sweet tooth, will love the "I dolci a casa tua" and "dessert nel piatto", during which they will learn both basic and advanced techniques from teachers of international standing such as Giuseppe Amato of Rome's 3 Michelin Star "La Pergola" restaurant. For perfectionists or for those simply eager to learn more about a specific technique, courses in cake decoration and confectionary using chocolate and fruit are held by Maurizio Santin, who many will recognize from his frequent appearances on the Gambero Rosso Channel.

Lasting for just a single afternoon, the "Attenti a quei due!" course, held by the dynamic duo Marco De Vita and Massimo D'Addezio, teach students how to create delicious and fast to prepare dishes, designed to provide the perfect accompaniment for an elegant cocktail or summer dinner. Pizza cooked in the traditional wood burning, electric or gas ovens, is the protagonist of the popular three-lesson course "La pizza a casa tua". Other lessons are devoted specifically to vegetarian dishes or particular cooking methods, such as frying. Both of the school's sites are fitted with the latest professional appliances and equipment.

The school also holds group lessons in English and French and theme cooking courses for young children and teenagers.
