Castello di Bibbione San Casciano Val di Pesa

The Castello di Bibbione, in San Casciano Val di Pesa, is an ancient aristocratic residence the earliest recorded mention of which dates back to 997. Positioned atop a hill, in the heart of the Chianti countryside, the castle was erected by the Cadolinghi of Montecascoli. The edifice then passed in to the hands of the Buondelmonti family before becoming the property of the Machiavelli, whose heirs still manage the estate.

In 1995 and marking the completion of an extensive restoration project, the Castello di Bibbione opened its doors to guests sharing an interest in both history and nature. The castle is situated in the center of a small hamlet comprised of various country houses each of which converted in to attractive holiday apartments. The apartments, equipped with every modern comfort, have been beautifully appointed in traditional Tuscan style: featuring terracotta pavements, exposed wood beams, large open fireplaces, paintings, carpets, and antique furniture.

Each of the thirteen apartments (from 34sqm to 119sqm) has a living room with kitchenette or a kitchen, a number of which with romantic open fireplace. Villa Il Poggio, the largest of the houses (352sqm), also has a private external loggia, swimming pool, garden and gym.

The estate farm, the Fattoria di Bibbione, stretches out over more than 100 hectares of terrain, comprised of Chianti Classico vineyards, olive groves, and cultivated land. Highly praised wines and an excellent extra virgin olive oil are produced on the estate.

An open air swimming pool is available for guests use from May to September. Whilst staying at the Castello di Bibbione, guests are free to wander through the estate's gardens and woods, or relax whilst enjoying the benefits of an Ayurvedic massage. On request, wedding receptions, banquets and important social gatherings can be held in the Castle and grounds. Again on a request basis, tastings of local gastronomic products, cooking lessons, and guided tours of the villages, towns and art cities of Tuscany, can be arranged.
