The small town of San Casciano dei Bagni, of Etruscan origin, has for many centuries been an extremely popular thermal resort and it was here, in the 17th century, that the Grand Duke Ferdinando I de' Medici built one of his most sumptuous country residences in the vicinity of the natural hot springs.
