Tenuta di Canonica Todi

The position of the property is truly enchanting - overlooking on one side the Tiber valley towards Orvieto, and on the other side on the medieval hilltop town of Todi. The house, an ancient stone tower, has been completely and sympathetically restored, preserving many historical details including typical architectural Umbrian elements as well as the still-visible Roman foundations.

Each of the eleven spacious guestrooms is elegantly decorated with antique furniture, old family portraits and photographs as well as a melange of catalogues and books, both old and new.
Through hidden doors and narrow passageways, you can reach a small library - or other private spaces - or find yourself in the stunning principal leaving room, which boasts not only a stone fireplace and vaulted ceilings but also an old billiard table and grand piano.

Breakfast and dinner are served either in the cosy dining room or, during the Summer, in the brick portico, surrounded by fragrant Mediterranean flowers and herbs such as ginestra, lavender and rosemary. Private cooking classes given by the Tenuta di Canonica teacher-chef can be arranged.

The location of the large swimming pool is probably unique. From the terra cotta terrace, you can enjoy both the stunning views and the sun from early in the morning until the evening's last setting rays.
