Lo Scrigno del Duomo
Restaurants www.scrignodelduomo.comThe Scrigno del Duomo is on two levels: the ground floor "Wine Bar", opening on to Piazza Duomo, and the "Restaurant" proper, in the lower floor, which was the previous level of the square.
Before entering the premises, beyond a wrought iron gate, there is a courtyard where, in spring and summer, our guests can sit in the open to enjoy a drink with a magnificent view of one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.
A section of this space has been paved with glass, to display some interesting archaeological remains of the ancient city (a Roman well and ancient walls).
The dining rooms are situated on the lower floor of the Scrigno.
Before entering, a sommelier greets you in an antechamber for an aperitif, beneath a wrought-iron "pergola".
Among the restaurant's dining rooms, the most "antique" and suggestive is undoubtedly the end one, where you may dine seated next to the old Roman well, discovered during the excavations and perfectly restored.
Another beautiful room is the "Senesi" Room, named for the artist who created the marvellous graffiti that occupies an entire wall.
Then there are other smaller rooms for those who wish to dine in more intimate surroundings, for a business lunch or a special occasion.
Before leaving the lower floor we suggest you throw a glance into our small, but well-stocked cellar, where connoisseurs of fine wines will find a number of prized and unique labels.
Of course, the bottles may also be purchased.
