La Via Romana Restaurants
The restaurant opened in Bordighera in August 1993 in the beautiful original Liberty rooms of the Grand Hotel Londra, one of the famous hotels of the beginning of the century. In those days Bordighera was the winter refuge for wealthy vistors from Russia, Britain, Germany, who sought a warm climate in an enchanting luxurious atmosphere. This is still visible in the villas, hotels and gardens along the Via Romana. One understands why Queen Margherita elected to reside here all her life.
The restaurant "La Via Romana" is run by Romolo Giordano, from Bordighera. Pino Graziano, from Palermo is the Chef. They had previuosly worked together at the "Mistral" in Bordighera and at the "Giappun" in Vallecrosia.
They specialize in fish, their dishes ranging from North to South of the Mediterranean and vary with the season. In winter great attention is given to the cheese platter and to desserts.
The wine list has over 400 labels from the major Italian and French producers and also includes an exceptional choice of liqueurs and "digestivi".
