In the rolling Tuscan countryside, just a few kilometers away from the spectacular medieval city of Siena, lies Borgo la Bagnaia: a beautifully restored medieval hamlet and 12th century customs station, recently transformed into an enchanting resort in which to experience the ultimate in 5 star luxury.

Historically Bagnaia, as the name indicates, was a land rich in thermal waters, waters which, in medieval times, were used by cardinals, popes and princes including none other than the great Lorenzo il Magnifico himself. Over the centuries, Bagnaia's thermal tradition was gradually lost, dwindling to little more than a popular belief dear to the local farming community, who continued to be convinced that the waters of Saint Catherine had certain healing properties. It was only recently, that, after extensive research in the area, an ancient spring was eventually located, and the exclusive Buddha Wellness Center was built on the site.

Borgo la Bagnaia's spa, occupying a beautifully restored travertine building originally used as stables, represents the harmonious fusion of time-honored Western and Eastern wellness philosophies. Traditional spa treatments based on water and steam, combine with Thai therapies, such as Ton Sen, an ancient northern Thai therapy performed with wooden sticks made from a specially chosen tamarind tree, which, via deep vibrations, releases tension in the deep muscle groups. The outside pool, featuring a 4 meter high waterfall, is filled with the celebrated thermal water which surfaces at 30°. Sports fans will love the ultra modern fitness area, equipped with the latest Technogym appliances.

Not only are Borgo la Bagnaia's guests able to choose from the vast range of treatments offered by the Buddha Spa, but they are also surrounded by the beautiful Sienese countryside and can explore the 1100 hectare estate inhabited by hares, pheasants and horses, all of which roam free in this authentic oasis amidst the Tuscan hills.
