This summer, from 21st to 31st of July, the Riviera Romagnola will be vibrating to the sound of soul music. The third edition of "Spiagge Soul" will see some of the world's greatest soul singers performing in all of the most fashionable beach clubs in the province of Ravenna. The voices and music of artists of international fame will animate a music festival which promises to be one of the most exciting of the season.

The festival begins on July 21st with a Jam Session at Wave, Punta Marina. The following evening, it will be the turn of France's Shaoline Temple Defenders, considered to be one of the best soul funk groups in Europe, who will perform at Marina di Ravenna's Peter Pan. The program includes 25 concerts by artists of international standing, including New York's Kokolo, and Lisa Hunt & The Funkypapas: a singer and composer known for her gospel inspired soul music and her work with stars the caliber of Madonna.

Guaranteed crowd pullers include the legendary Big Brother and the Holding Company (on stage July 28th), the forerunner of the psychedelic music movement and the group which effectively launched the late great Janis Joplin to worldwide fame.
The honor of concluding the festival belongs to the Memphis-born Tom Green & Groove City, fresh from his success at Poretta Soul Festival and Umbria Jazz.

Thanks to the collaboration with Ravenna Slow Food, who will be organizing numerous tastings of the area's gastronomic products, the 2011 Spiagge Soul festival is destined to taste as good as it sounds.
