Villa Moorings Barga - Tuscany

Villa Moorings, located just outside the center of the small Tuscan town of Barga, close to Lucca, was built almost a century ago, back in 1924. This was the time in which Art Nouveau (Liberty in Italy), in all its various forms, dominated art and architectural design throughout Europe. Villa Moorings was built according to the latest trend by the Castelvecchi family who, after years of working in Scotland, returned to their native town of Barga so as to realize a magnificent holiday home here.

The antique furniture, pavements in glass chip mosaic, lamps from Murano, hand woven carpets from Florence, banisters in wrought iron, and artwork by the Barga-born painter Bruno Cordati: each and every detail of Villa Moorings, recently transformed in elegant hotel, is the perfect expression of Italian Art Nouveau or "Liberty" style. The same elegance which characterizes the hotel's public rooms can be found in the light filled guest bedrooms. Villa Moorings has a total of 12 spacious rooms, including 3 Junior Suites, all decorated with items of early 20th century and traditional Tuscan furniture and equipped with every modern comfort: from Satellite television to wireless internet. A number of bedrooms are connecting and, on request, can be transformed in attractive family apartments.

During the day, guests staying at Villa Moorings relax in the reading room, at the hotel bar, or on the large terrace overlooking the garden and swimming pool.
