Villa Il Pozzo Certaldo - Tuscany

A splendid period residence, Villa Il Pozzo occupies a truly enviable position in the countryside just outside the pretty little medieval town of Certaldo, halfway between Florence and Siena. From the heights of its hill top position, the Villa boasts magnificent views over what is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful landscapes in the whole of Italy: Chianti.

Villa Il Pozzo provides an exclusive and wonderfully peaceful Tuscan retreat. The elegant interiors, adorned with a selection of antique furnishings and period artworks, have been carefully designed so as to compliment the building's original architectural features, such as floors in terracotta and exposed wooden beam ceilings.

Villa Il Pozzo's six, individually appointed, one and two bedroom apartments are situated in the main body of the villa and the tower. Each of the apartments is named after one of the features which lends it particular appeal, be it a magnificent wall fresco (affresco), romantic open fireplace (camino), private garden (giardino), or terrace from where to observe the towers of San Gimignano in the distance (terrazza). All the apartments have either a kitchen or kitchenette.

Villa Il Pozzo's apartments are available for weekly rent only (with arrival on Saturday).

On warm summer days, guests staying at Villa Il Pozzo enjoy moments of total relaxation by the Mediterranean style swimming pool, in a garden which seems to merge in to the surrounding countryside. A number of excellent wines are produced using the grapes cultivated in Villa Il Pozzo's vineyards and are available for tasting in the Villa's cellar, part of which has been transformed in museum, containing a fascinating collection of old farming instruments, traditionally employed during the grape harvest. The olives grown on Villa Il Pozzo's farm are used to make a highly prized extra virgin olive oil.
