One of the oldest and most beautiful Villas of San Casciano, Villa Il Poggiale has passed through the hands of both The Corsini family and later The Ricasoli-Rucellai family. From the 16th century portico and façade to the breathtaking interior with beautiful frescoes and depicted doors from the 18th century, the villa exudes history.
Many of the floors are original Cotto Fiorentino, whilst carefully restored exposed beams add character and warmth to bedrooms on the upper level. Antique furnishings and beautifully tiled bathrooms throughout, and high ceilings on the Noble floor blend to create the genuine charming Tuscan flavour and atmosphere.
The Villa offers an informal bar service in addition to La Tinaia serving light lunchtime snacks and buffet dinner, from May to October, based on Tuscan specialties and produces.
The gardens are delightful, with secular cypresses, flowers and hedges, all of which are typical of the Italian Gardens of the Renaissance period. Guests may unwind at the divine property outdoor swimming pool opulently landscaped with the enveloping rolling hills.
If you can manage to drag yourself away from this magical retreat, Florence is only a 20 minute drive away. Other Tuscan villages such as San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa and Lucca are located within a 60-minute drive.
