Trail of Parma Ham Parma

It winds along the foothills and hilly belt which includes the valleys of Parma and Baganza: it presents various and renowned typical Parmesan products, such as "Prosciutto di Parma" (Parma ham), "Parmigiano Reggiano" (Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese), "Vini Colli di Parma" (Hills of Parma Wines), "Tartufo Nero di Fragno" (Black Truffle of Fragno) and "Salame di Felino" (Felino Salami)....all of them accompanied by a tasty traditional gastronomy.
Always known as the heart of the Parmesan food valley, the itinerary offers the tourist the most famous typical products of Parma, "Prosciutto" (Parma ham) and "Parmigiano Reggiano" (Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese), together with full-bodied wines "Colli di Parma" (Hills of Parma Wines), the precious "Tartufo Nero di Fragno" (Black Truffle of Fragno) and "Salame di Felino" (Felino Salami). The table offers a long tradition of cookery, which has marked the passionate historical events that wove together inside the walls of village-churches, towns and castles. The castle of Torrechiara, with its famous rampart, reminds us of the fifteenth-century love between Pier Maria Rossi and Bianca Pellegrini. Eastwards, in the Val d'Enza, two castles, Montechiarugolo and Neviano degli Arduini, are the aim of the itinerary. Westwards, the Parco dei Boschi di Carrega and the Parco Fluviale del Taro close the trail at Collecchio and Ozzano, where the Guatelli museum "Il bosco delle cose" - dedicated to the rural civilization - is situated. In the south, the castle of Ravarano is the other border of the itinerary after two more important castles, the fortress of Sala Baganza and the castle of Felino. Four valleys - Val d'Enza, Val Parma, Val Baganza and Val Taro - invite the tourist to make the trip along the Via Francigena and the Apennine passes. Taste the products of the "Trail"!
