In the middle of Valle d'Itria, scattered by a myriad of trulli standing out from the green vineyards, where Murgia descends to Ionian Sea in one direction and to Adriatic Sea in the other, Locorotondo stands in a hill and with its whitewashed historic centre designed by a simple Mediterranean architecture together with the surrounding territory creates a fairy-tale environment that brings back in time and reminds the past.
Like passion for grapevine cultivation handed on from generation to generation and eternal heritage of the peculiar rural and historical culture of this zone: in fact, some documents of 1195 state Locorotondo as wine producer.
The tradition of Cantina di Locorotondo's wine production goes on thanks to the will and the care of 1300 producers associates that with great tenacity, quality that characterizes farmers, cultivate selected grapes, overcoming the difficulties of this hard work due to the peculiar feature of the rocky ground. In fact, to plant a vineyard it is necessary to dig deeply in order to arrive where rocks stand and so plant can find a cool place for its survival and absorb precious mineral substances to harmonize them in its fruit.
Skilled and constant care that during the year farmers dedicate to vineyards together with geologic and climatic features of the territory, create a harmonic union in order to help grapes maturation and then with great care grapes are selected for the vinification.
